This was a multi-year, multi-phase project at the Philips Arena (later State Farm Arena), located in Atlanta, GA. The project scope was to design a Communications Equipment Room, serving
a Distributed Antenna System (DAS), converted from an existing storage room.
Phase 1 design, 2016:
- Demolition of selected existing features, including walls.
- New 25.5' wall (CMU lower 10', stud wall upper 15') (I did not draft this).
- New door.
- Equipment layout plan.
- Overhead cable rack layout plan (auxiliary framing).
- Fire protection plan & requirements (FM-200 fire suppression system).
- Life safety plan.
- Mechanical plan with new indoor air handler units, ducting, and outdoor condenser units.
- Electrical plan with new transormer and AC panelboards connecting to an existing electrical system.
- Grounding plan.
- Lighting plan for new overhead lighting, as well as new AC receptacles.
- Electrical riser diagram and AC panel schedule.
Phase 2 design, 2018:
- New steel elevated equipment platform in portion of room.
- Lighting plan with replacement of most light fixtures and revised mounting methodology to accomodate new equipment platform.
- Structural design of equipment platform (I did not draft this).
Phase 3 design, 2019:
- Design for additional equipment.
- Mechanical plan for additional HVAC units.
- Electrical plan for additional transformer and AC panelboard.
- Grounding plan for new equipment.
- Electrical riser diagram and AC panel schedule.
